At Akino Foundation, we believe that dignity and opportunity can be kindled through creative expression. In this unique initiative, we engaged homeless individuals in a skill-based and creative activity — painting traditional diyas. This activity was designed to create a sense of purpose and belonging while providing a platform for participants to explore their artistic side. It also aimed to generate livelihood opportunities, as the beautifully hand-painted diyas were showcased and sold during the festive season. Through this initiative, we sought to: Encourage self-expression and creativity among participants. Provide income-generating opportunities through skill-based art. Foster social inclusion and empowerment for the homeless community. The enthusiasm, joy, and pride reflected on the participants’ faces were truly inspiring. This initiative reaffirmed our belief that every individual, regardless of their circumstances, holds immense potential waiting to shine.
